Samsung as one of the main advantages of its payment system Samsung Pay promoted the support of technology MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission).
Support MST allows payment not only in new terminals with NFC, but old, where contactless cards are not supported. This is different from Samsung Pay from the competitors, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
However, the company decided to abandon this advantage. In the new smartphones average level, the Galaxy A6, A6 Galaxy Plus and Galaxy A7 (2018), and smart watches Galaxy Watch, no chip MST. As a result, Samsung Pay them only works in places where NFC is supported and does not work in a simple terminal with MST.

“Samsung Pay will not discontinue support of MST technology, which, together with the ability to make payments at NFC terminals is its unique advantage, enabling you to make purchases using a Samsung Pay almost everywhere.
Historically, not all Samsung devices are compatible with the service. The vast majority of models compatible devices supports this technology, including the latest flagship devices and devices, starting with the 2016 model year.
