At the age of 76 years died the physicist Stephen Hawking

The famous British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking has died on 77-m to year of life, according to BBC radio broadcasting organization with reference to the representatives of the family of the scientist. In 1963, the doctors gave Hawking a disappointing diagnosis – amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Experts believed that he left to live only two and a half years. But the physicist contrary to predictions, continued to lead an active life and gain recognition in scientific circles. He became one of the founders of quantum cosmology, as well as shed light on what are black holes.

“We are deeply saddened that our beloved father has passed away today. He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will remain with us for many years”, — reads the statement of the Hawking family.

The disease Stephen Hawking has not progressed as quickly as doctors had predicted, so on a wheelchair, he moved only in the late 60-ies. In 1985, Hawking underwent a complicated inflammation of the lungs, resulting in lost the ability to speak. Later his voice became the voice synthesizer, which he managed with retained certain mobility of the finger. This synth is constantly fine-tuned given the fact that the scientist eventually became almost completely paralyzed, with the exception of one of the facial muscles, in front of which is secured a transducer for interaction with a computer system. The latest version of the computer specifically for Hawking was created by Intel.

In 2007, Hawking flew into weightlessness on Board a special aircraft. Physicist always wanted to go into space and even planned to do it in 2009, but the flight did not take place for a number of reasons, including his health. Hawking was a staunch atheist and has always opposed the war. For example, the war in Iraq he was considered a war crime and actively supported nuclear disarmament. Stephen Hawking was married twice and by his first wife Jane Wilde, he has a son Robert (1967), daughter Lucy (1970) and son Timothy (1979). Hawking has become famous throughout the world thanks to his book “a brief history of time”. He has 12 honorary degrees, was a member of the British scientific Royal society and the Academy of Sciences of the United States. His scientific achievements and discoveries have been marked by numerous prizes and awards. Stephen Hawking led a very open lifestyle, not hiding from fans, often presented papers, taught at universities and even participated in the filming of the Comedy television series “the big Bang Theory”, about the lives of several friends-scientists. The scholar also voiced his character for the animated series “the Simpsons” and “Futurama”. In 2014 on the big screens out the film-biography about the life of physics “the universe Stephen Hawking”, in which the main role is played by the actor Eddie Redmayne.
