Airbus has posted a video testing flying taxi

Prototype flying taxi, developed by Airbus, tested at the beginning of this month, but the report about the flight of an unmanned prototype consisted only of a skimpy press release, is equipped with multiple pictures. A video of the flight, then for some reason the developers put no steel. But recently the company has corrected the situation by uploading on Youtube taken during a test flight video.

The video demonstrates how the Alpha One makes a vertical takeoff, then moves through the air and finally makes a vertical landing, which took place without any operator intervention — with the tasks unmanned aerial vehicle will be to handle yourself in the future.

Test flight lasted about a minute and took place at the height of 4.9 meters above the ground. Alpha One flew without passengers on Board, as when a test flight is always a risk of an emergency situation.

The developers of the project Vahana, created this flying prototype initially set a goal to create an unmanned aircraft with electric drives, able to carry a single passenger, vertical take off and land. It was earlier claimed that the aircraft can lift up to 745 pounds of cargo. Work on the creation of the UAV are conducted in the spring of 2016. Commercial sales of Alpha One at Airbus is already planning to start in 2020.

We now have a new telegram chat to discuss this and other news.
