AMG 300 E 6.0 Hammer
It is approximately 31 years, 5 months and 2 weeks ago that the W124 came on the market. That should be celebrated!

We do that today by having a look at the custom and tuned W124’s. The reason why is actually very simple. The father of the undersigned ever had a W124. A 200 D. dark Blue, non-metallic, wheel covers, 4-speed, and gray fabric lining. No air conditioning. Radio, of course, in retrospect, and a Shell Stratenboek in the glove box. For me, the W124 is the coolest car of all time. Disadvantage: the 200 Diesel appeared to be a little slow. Very slowly. So soon grew a healthy interest in fast W124’s. We take the following with you:

Tommy Kaira M30E:
Everyone that Gran Turismo has played knows Tommy Kaira. In addition to sports car manufacturer Tommy Kaira also tuner of Subaru, Nissan and Toyota. They, however, began with the tune of mercedes benz cars. The first was a gekietelde 190 E (the Tommy Kaira M19E), but their second achievement was the M30E, a 300-E with 230pk. This was achieved by a sharper camshaft, modified manifolds, a larger air intake and a sports exhaust. Favorietje of the local Yakuza, apparently. Nowadays she mainly hybridetuning.

Oettinger 3600E:
Oettinger is not unknown in the tuningwereld, but mainly as a tuner of Audis and Volkswagens. Where the Tommy Kaira thoroughly addressed was, went Oettinger easier to work. the block was opgeboord to 3.6 litres. This resulted in 235pk. The top speed would be above 250. Hopeful enough got the 3600E is a counter which is up to 300 km/h. Spotting was difficult, because people really notice did the Oettinger E, on the rims and some stickers after, it was just a W124. The interior received a sport steering wheel. Everything you could possibly need.

Boschert B300-24C Biturbo:
If Mercedes themselves, not with a modern Gullwing will we do it, they thought at Boschert. Boschert was a not laudable breeder of the Mercedes, but they will still be reminded of the B300-24C Biturbo. The base was a 300CE, but really everything else was. The nose was replaced for a copy of the R129 SL. The wheelbase was a few inches shortened, and the doors were replaced by folding doors. The 3-litre six-in-line got two turbo’s boosted so the power increased to 320pk. Still a dream come true.

Renntech E600:
The Us Mercedes tuner has been successful in the States, out there less well known. Logical in itself, there are about the limit already more than enough alternatives. To make the Yanks happy keep offered Renntech a variety of tuningsmogelijkheden for the W124. The biggest was still the E600. This had the M129 5.0 V8, but then tickled until 400pk. Considerably more than the 65pk strong 200D… Still know Renntech to surprise with thick decorated mercedes benz cars.

Koenig Specials 300 E Twin Turbo:
Today we have Mansory as ‘breeder’ of expensive cars, in the 80’s was Willy Koenig the tuningheld. The engines were by Koenig have taken, the interior was desired, additional learning, television and a telephone. Vitoorio Strosek was as usual responsible for the exuberant bodykit. As with Boschert chose Koenig for a Twin Turbo setup. This resulted in the zespitter 345pk and had a peak of 300 km/h or higher are possible. Subtle is different.

Carlsson C35:
In comparison with Koenig you can this Carlsson almost elegant. Carlsson is no stranger when it comes to the tuning of E-classes. The Mercedes tuning division of Herbert Hartge went carefully to work. The C35 was based on the 300 24 valve and had a 3.5 litre cored six-cylinder engine. Bumpers, skirts, rims, exhausts: everything was adjusted, but somewhat retained. You could be the powertrain is also used in the 190 E, maybe even cooler than the mandatory Cosworths.

AMG 300 6.0 ‘Hammer’:
Perhaps the most illustrious of this list. The end of the 80s, this was a particular phenomenon. This was a business car which is the Ferrari’s, Porsches and Lamborghini’s very difficult. What the ‘Hammer‘ so special was not only the performance potential, but also the refinement of the car as you normally drove. The first Hammer had a 5.6-litre V8, later it was increased to 5.8 and the last series had the 6.0 V8.

Mercedes-Benz E60 AMG:
Strictly speaking, not a tuned car, Mercedes was not the owner of AMG, but (closely) collaborating partner. The E60 AMG was the AMG version of the E500. In addition to a E60 AMG, you could also opt for the slightly milder E36 AMG, which indicates that two-AMG’s of a model with no news, such as @Dizono us know to tell. Don’t make the mistake a Hammer to call, because those are the V8 E-classes from before the 500 E.

Brabus E 500 6.9:
Sometimes the Germans humor. Brabus proves that by in 1993 to 6.9 litres enlarged V12 in the front of the 500E to scoop up. The result was 508pk and 710 Nm. This started, because it seems that the most owners the car equipped with the 7.3 and later 7.3’s update, making the V12 582pk supplies. In the Netherlands, seems to be driving anyway, one round with the 7.3 V12. It seems that Brabus a few W124 500’s later with of V12. Not only Brabus spooned a V12 in the E class, also Väth knew a 7.2-litre large copy fit.

Brabus E 6.5:
Another Brabus variant, and is definitely worth is to appoint. This was the ultimate E 500 (indeed, the E now). The V8 was enlarged to 6.5 liters, which you now suddenly, the decision had about 450 Bottropse horses. There are a couple of built and one of them has for sale been, but is finally sold to a very lucky taxichauffeureigenaar. This block would later have to be delivered in the strongest SLK ever, the Brabus SLK V8 6.5. Today, the V8 is the fastest solution for the E-class.

Wald 300 TO V4:
The Japanese are still without prejudice to crazy on the W124. There are many clubs dedicated to these indestructible cars. Adding a Wald bodykit is not so much a sign of bad taste (or do they?), but to your W124 just that bit more unique. As it is known, do Wald, mainly features. In addition to the well-known tuners, there was also a Dutch tuner popular. In Japan drive W124’s around with a (twin-)turbokit from Mosselman. This turbo specialist is primarily familiar with BMW’s, but in the 80’s and 90’s mercedes benz cars with extra power.
