15 jaar opel opc
G, S, and I were up in the mid – ’90 the three toverletters at Opel, but at the end of 1999, there was a change in: thick, opel’s called, henceforth OPC, and are blue. Very blue.

To celebrate Opel Performance Center this month 15 years we have made an overview of a lot of blue spiced pastries. Highlights, such as the Corsa Nurburgring Edition and the Insignia 4×4 Turbo OPC as well as lows as the Meriva OPC.

Astra (G) 2.0 16V OPC
Astra G OPC
In December 1999 we see for the first time a really big version of the Opel Astra G: the OPC. Those three letters stand for Opel Performance Center and the OPC versions of the GSI place of welleer to be forgotten. That first Astra G OPC is still pretty good. Very sporty bumperwerk shall be made and the veelspaaks BBS messages eyes, even some aftermarket. The 160hp opgepepte 2.0 EcoTEC block was good for a top of 220km/h and 0-100 in 8,2 seconds. Already after a half year disappears, the first Astra OPC, again out of the showroom.

Astra (G) 2.0 Turbo OPC
Astra station opc
Really fun was when Opel in 2002, a tweeliter-turbo in the Astra G was hung, and in addition, the car provided a lot of aansprekender appearance. Thanks to thick bumperwerk, a large rear spoiler and rims that are later to Maserati-wheels would kick, driving the Astra G not only as a hot hatch, but it even looks like. The turboblok is good for 200hp, top speed is 240km/h and the 100 is already after 7.5 seconds is reached. Slightly less fast, but just as fun is the Astra station wagon OPC, the first and last time that an Astra OPC no driedeurs.

Astra (H) GTC OPC
Astra H OPC
Of the third generation Astra speaks Opel over a driedeurs hatchback, but a coupe-like, GTC called. It is no surprise that these sporty, contoured Astra serves as the basis for the OPC version. As with the previous generation, there is again a blown tweeliter under the hood, of course, with more power than its predecessor: 240 trappelende German ponies to be exact. The top speed is 244km/h is only marginally higher, the acceleration to a hundred goes by 6.6 seconds, a piece of a rapper.

Astra (J) GTC OPC
Astra I OPC
It is almost boring, even the current Astra GTC OPC has blown tweeliterblok under the hood that in the basis is equal to the block in the first Astra OPC. Boring, not the performance, for the top of 250km/h, you do on the Autobahn not to be ashamed, thanks to 280pk you’re in exactly 6 seconds on the hundred. And then there is that the current Astra OPC is the thickest and to me also the most beautiful car is OPC so far on the road.

Opel Zafira OPC
Opel Zafira OPC
On the Zafira the honor to be the first OPC with turbo, the swift MPV in smurfblauw came in 2001 on the market, a year for the Astra 2.0 Turbo OPC. Thanks to a wonderfully thick and blocky bumperpakket was this grey peoplemover suddenly fun; or at least more fun. Thanks 192pk zoef you with seven men in 8,2 seconds to the hundred-and steam you with a little more patience to 220km/h. From the facelift in 2003 will also get the Zafira OPC 200hp under the hood.

Opel Zafira OPC
The second generation Zafira also comes as an OPC, but looks despite the sportier bumpers compared to the standard model is still a bit braver than its predecessor. Under the hood the well-known blown tweeliter with 240hp, giving the Zafira is now a top 231km/h. That will be a lot of surprised faces, have completed on the Autobahn. Of the current, third generation of the Zafira is unfortunately (still) no OPC version.

Opel Meriva OPC
Opel Meriva OPC
The most bleary-eyed OPC is fortunately never sold in the Netherlands. Has OPC of the first generation of Zafira is still iéts know, the Meriva is so dull that even a 1.6 turbo with 180hp is hopeless. This blue bejaardenmobiel rushes in with 8.2 seconds to the hundred, fast enough to quickly back out of sight to have disappeared. Next!

Opel Corsa OPC
Opel Corsa OPC
The same for 1.6 as in the Meriva, but then in the much better plums Corsa and with in addition, yet 12 hp extra. The nimble trolley gets 220km/h sprint in 7.2 seconds to the hundred. Even better is the special Nürburgring Edition, which it even to 210pk kicks. 210pk in a Corsa! Nevertheless, it is not the shovel, the extra power that these to 500 copies, limited edition very tasty. Opel has, of course, after extensive testing on the Ring – the base is still firmly addressed. Are you in the market for a Corsa OPC, then search for this Nürburgring Edition. A tweedehandsje is it anyway, the new Corsa is still no OPC version.

Opel Vectra OPC
Opel Vectra GTS
Enough viercilinders, time for the real work! We still have until the facelift of the last Vectra in 2005, the wait for OPC-version of Opel’s car, but we are not disappointed. Under the blue hood is a 2.8 l V6 with turbo and 255pk. To limit does Opel not so you can go begrenzde Benzen and Bimmers bullying them with the 260km/h (GTS) or 254km/h (station Wagon) over to crawl on the Autobahn. The hundred in less than 7 seconds is reached.

Opel Insignia 4×4 OPC
Opel Insignia OPC
We have the best saved for last. Not only is the Insignia is a much more elegant car than the somewhat scrawny Vectra, thanks to less than 325pk is the Inisgnia 4X4 OPC is also a lot faster. At least, if you take the limiter off, lets demolish, because Opel went with the Insignia to participate in that nonsense. In the Netherlands it is better to perform a sprint to hundred in a mere six seconds is done, the standard all-wheel drive helps all of those horses actually to convert in the forward movement. Unfortunately, the cost of the Insignia OPC at least seventy mille, why you have him here, never will drive.
