POrsche 911 Turbo S
The first klantleveringen of the new Porsche 911 Turbo (S) start at the end of september, so for now, but meanwhile, the testjongens of Porsche will continue to have their laps. This is one of the first spots in the wild, which is still just another light on the car shed than a fancy beursfoto.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S is 1.680 kg supercar with 560 horsepower, and the engine behind the rear axle, or better said: this is it primarily on. This presses the rear wheels a bit further against the asphalt, resulting in excellent acceleratiecijfers: just 3.1 seconds, Porsche on for the sprint to 100.

About downforce spoken: the spoilerwerk helps a lot. The front spoiler is in three parts built, all of which are pneumatically adjustable. The rear wing has three positions, that is to your liking (more downforce, or just more speed) is set. Other technical jokes as the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (standard on the Turbo S, optional on the Turbo) to control further increase.

The co-steering rear wheels are a feature that I agree would like to encounter: the knuckles on the left – and right-hand side of the rear axle are replaced by two electromechanical stelmotoren. Up to a speed of 50 km/h this the rear wheels in the opposite direction, between 50 and 80, they do nothing, and above that, they move parallel to the front wheels.

Porsche claims that this is the same effect as a 250 mm shorter wheelbase (low speed) and a 500 mm longer wheelbase (high speed). In the latter case, this gives more stability, but if you go straight on and crack it on the highway to do your wheels, of course, nothing in terms of control. It has only in the curves effect.

What I also wonder: do you go with your 911 Turbo in the mountains pop out, and you are going 80+ through the turns, have co-steering rear wheels not only an unwanted tegeneffect?

Anyway, the first owners may very soon go to try it out. If they 220.500 euros (and the money for the options) for their’you have left at Porsche Netherlands at least.

Would they en masse for what anonymous grey, just like the one that mats_bulters around the Nürburgring mocked? Check out his excellent photos on autojunk!
