Chrysler-Lamborghini Portofino: forgotten concept (1987)

As a Chrysler in 1987, is the owner of Lamborghini, it is decided that the two brands to unite in one concept car. The technique comes from Lamborghini, the styling is clearly not.
In 1986, signs of the then still young Kevin Verduyn, the Chrysler Navajo. Beyond a clay model is not, but if Chrysler a year later, Lamborghini buy, the design is once again dusted off. Verduyn will have a lengthened Lamborghini Jalpa chassis, 3.5 V8 just for the rear axle and one on the Navajo-like car designs. That is this Chrysler Lamborghini Portofino. Although the Portofino liberally sprinkled with Lamborghini logos on the nose, we see the well-known steer even in Chryslers pentagon, the lines of communication are clearly recognizable as Chrysler. There do four Lambo-style doors. That car is so obviously Chrysler is , incidentally, a great compliment to Verduyn’s address to be called.
At that time, the production models of Chrysler namely yet with a ruler designed. The revolutionary cab forward design of the Portofino will be for many years the appearance of many Chryslers, Dodges and Eagles to determine. The lines of the Dodge Intrepid and Chrysler Cirrus (which in our country with a different nose and ass as Chrysler 300M for sale) are already well recognized.

And the Portofino? That was in 1991 heavily damaged by an accident during the transport. Although the concept car further no purpose anymore, saw Chrysler the historical value of the car in and they showed the Portofino for $ 300,000 restoration. Currently the car is on display at Chryslers headquarters.
