The Alfa Romeo 6C (1939), Mussolini’s lover, will be auctioned

Geschiedenisfreaks and car enthusiasts attention: you can, in February the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Sport Berlinetta by Touring the lover of Benito Mussolini on the nab.

The Alfa Romeo 6C is, in itself, a very special car, but this classic also has a impressive story. The Italian dictator, bought the rare racing car from 1939 for his mistress, Claretta Petacci, who during the Second world War everywhere left driving by its driver.

Thats about the striking history of the car is not, because Petacci and her family tried in the 6C to cross the border to flee, at the moment when it was clear that Mussolini and Italy were losing the war. Got that far, however, it is never because the car was stopped at the Italian border. Eventually, Mussolini and Petacci on 28 april 1945 murdered.

After the war, the 6C was purchased by an American officer, who ‘m to the United States took. In 1970 the car was re-discovered on a farm, and in 2007 was followed by a thorough renovation.
