911 Turbo S mk2
Yes, that is a critical question on the Saturday morning. Text and explanation after the click.

It is a trend, what with the years seem to take: show off super-fast times on a round Nordschleife. It was the time of 7:58 with the M2 shown on the BMW stand in Detroit. Porsche claimed in Detroit in a time of 7:18 placed with the facelifted 911 Turbo S. That is rap. In fact, that is faster than the current GT3 RS (7:20). How?!1!1

In an interview with Car&Driver in Detroit gives Porsche an explanation. As they declare on some of the pieces are not full throttle could drive because of the (now defunct) speed limit at the ‘Ring. Exactly in those places, the Germans digitally calculated data of the circuit of the 991 Turbo S mk.1, is included. So the time of 7:18 is not a complete circle, but with the help of the computer was realized. They call this ‘Digital Simulation’.

I call bullshit. Do even just realistic Porsche. Hang a camera in the car, measuring it. Shoot a round over the 20.8 kilometre long stretch of asphalt and present the time. Incidentally, Porsche this spring is a real attempt with the new 911 Turbo S. The limits are no longer there, so can the engineers and testcoureurs their trick. We are curious if that 7:18 really taken going to be.
