Google's Now Launcher Finally Forces Every Icon To Be the Same Size

Android app developers don’t always play by the rules when it comes to icon size, which can leave the home screen looking a bit of mess. But now Google is forcing icons to assume a unified size, pleasing design pedants everywhere.

While Google has guidelines about icon dimensions for Android, developers often ignore them. But a new update for the Google Now launcher—the default home screen for pure Android devices—automatically adjusts every icon to a single size. That means that the weirdly over-sized app icons you sometimes see (such as the Bank of America app in the image above) now sit nicely alongside Google’s standardized graphics.

Google Now has finally also been updated to auto-rotate to horizontal mode, too.
