MASK!
Jeugdsentiment alert! The cartoon series MASK comes in a large Hollywood production with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The cartoon series MASK (Mobile Armoured Strike Command) is a series from the mid ’80s, and so we forgive our younger readers if they do not immediately understand where this post is about. The cartoon series was about Matt Trakker, whose brother Andy killed by VENOM (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem) opperschurk Miles Mayhem. The series is a sort of cross between Transformers and G. I. Joe.

The men of the MASK have but one mission: VENOM and its leader, destroy. They have special cars and trucks that turn into real fighting machines with superpowers if they have a certain mask (aha!) set it up in their car.

The series was eventually after two seasons (75 episodes) stopped and kind of be found in G. I. Joe. Matt Trakker was by Hasbro as actiefiguur issued with a G. I. Joe packaging, but was never in the tv series forward. That is now may have to be rectified, because in the latest G. I. Joe movie (in 2016 to see in the cinema) is Matt Trakker. The reason for the introduction is not entirely clear, but Film Divider believe that it may be a preparation for a wider release in the G. I. Joe movies. Another scenario is that this is a stepping-stone to a stand-alone film for a MASK, which still would be nicer of course.

Check here the intro of MASK as we here on the editorial staff sang along in the early ’80s!

Thanks to Ronald for the tip!
