Fiction movie that it was impossible to miss in 2015

Звездные войны

Young readers this may seem strange, but there was a time when fantasy films were definitely unfashionable. Marked as movies second grade in Hollywood, they were meant mainly for an audience of dubious reputation, not representing their life without robots, space ships and aliens. In our days science fiction in the movies already, no doubt, became mainstream. Partly due to Hollywood franchises of a different nature, this genre is a Moneymaker, profitable area in the industry. The growing popularity of the sky app says: since technologies continue to emerge at breakneck speed, we’ll show you your hopes and fears on the future, which is approaching very, very quickly.

Let’s look at the best science fiction films of the year. Save to bookmarks to see it.

“From the machine”

Из машины

Along with “Mad max: fury Road” (which I loved), the British Thriller “Of the car” (which I liked much more) became the most critically acclaimed science fiction movie. The main role in the film was played by Alicia vikander (Ava) — advanced artificial intelligence in a physical form, practically indistinguishable from human humanoid robot.

Storyline through a modern Frankenstein, “From the machine” raises questions about the revolt of artificial intelligence — and this sci-Fi agenda is well known. However, the film updates the standard template elements of a gender policy, human psychology and criticism of the technological industry. Hero Oscar Isaac is an eccentric millionaire with Big Plans — it seems awfully familiar and represents a new type of mad scientist of the 21st century.

“The Martian”

Марсианин

Dig through the archives and you’ll see that from most sci-Fi films reeks of despair and hopelessness. Usually our heroes are fighting some sort of impending threat — technological, environmental or alien — in the background of a future where humanity’s chances seem pretty grim. Often unsolvable dilemma lead our own decisions, and all these stories are saturated with fear and bitter regret.

With the film “the Martian” directed by Ridley Scott made a turn in another direction. The film is set in the foreseeable future, it presents a perfectly healthy American space programme in which NASA regularly sends a manned mission through the Solar system. Astronaut mark Watney (Matt Damon) faces a lot of problems on Mars, but gradually cope with them, thanks to science and human ingenuity.

“Martian” is a film about hope, which brings us back to the Golden science fiction 50-ies and 60-ies, when defeated smart guys and science has always been on a horse.

“Mad Max”

Безумный Макс

Generally accepted best science fiction film of the year was the restart of the famous franchise first Australian George Miller. “Mad Max: fury Road” it, no matter how cool, wonderful visual storytelling — this film you can watch without sound, everything will be clear. In fact, it’s one big chase scene, made beautiful and crazy brush art design.

Cultural issues in the film appear somewhere in the background, we learn about the massive environmental collapse and the subsequent wars for resources, which led to the Apocalypse. In the world of “Mad max” our environmental concerns tied to a rusty oil tanker in the Badlands. “Fury road” is a radical fiction film. He’s terrible and must be so.

“Ultron”

Альтрон

Meanwhile, somewhere in the universe comics, leading to Marvel franchise returns with an important and commercial success: “the Avengers: Age of Ultron”. Once again the evil artificial intelligence rears its studded with chips ugly head when a hostile Ultron defies the powerful heroes of the Earth.

Directed by Joss Whedon is known for its accents of playful diversions in popculture creations, and “Ultron” is no exception. Note how the evil AI arises not because of some schemes of supervillain, but rather from the good intentions of the programme global monitoring for the protection of the inhabitants of the Earth. Remarkably, a similar scenario is observed in the latest film about agent 007 “Range”. The dangers of surveillance technology is clearly manifest in our collective consciousness — at least in the movie.

“Lazarus”

Лазарь

A little underrated Thriller that teeters on the edge between science fiction and horror “the Lazarus Effect” is not created any noise, appearing on the screens in February. But fans of, shall we say, theoretical fiction, he might like. Salt: researchers of biotechnology to develop breakthrough medical technique under the code name “Lazarus” that can bring people back from the dead.

Predictable existential problems arise, and soon enough a secret lab buried blood. But if you look between the lines, this story raises questions about terrible medical practices, bioethics and the challenges of end of life. Modern medicine has found that death is a process that can be manipulated. Should I be concerned about this? Definitely, Yes.

“Star wars”

Звездные войны

And, of course, how could I not say about the very modest event of 2015 performed by Disney and Lucasarts: “Star wars: the force Awakening”. At the meta level this film is difficult to name a direct speculation on the subject of modern technologies — it was a long time ago in a far distant galaxy. And, in the end, Star wars has always been star Saga, not hard sci-Fi.

But interested in “humanitarian Sciences” like sociology and anthropology have much to learn. This film is indeed a masterpiece example of the mythology — as we tell ourselves the same story over and over again, at different times and in different places. You can also find interesting topics of fascism and feminism.

As for the films in the second tier, this year was also full of good examples. If you are interested in the theme of interaction between man and machine, you can refer to the “Terminator: Genesis”. If genetic engineering — “Jurassic Park”. If social engineering, there was a lot of teen movies like “the hunger games”, “the maze runner” and “Divergent” (caution, possible overdose). Dystopia for teenagers, apparently, never goes out of fashion. Oh, and don’t forget to look at the “Man-ant”, he’s cool.
