Activists Turned a Busy Paris Roundabout into a Symbol of Hope for the Planet

The final climate agreement draft won’t come until this weekend but a group of activists have found a way to mark the end of the COP21 summit on a somewhat hopeful note.

Protesters affiliated with Greenpeace poured yellow paint onto the streets around the Arc de Triomphe today, allowing cars and motorbikes to spread the paint in a circle and out into the 12 streets which feed into the roundabout, creating a sun. There were plenty of incredible installations in Paris these last two weeks but this is a good one to end the summit. I think the message is that although it will take some time to change our ways, eventually we’ll be able to power our daily lives using smarter methods.

In a week filled with emotional, misguided, and often depressing imagery, this is an optimistic ray of light.
